Projects

Here's just a small sampling of the PROJECTS we've INSTALLED over the PAST FEW YEARS.

Concrete footpath, steps and GRP handrail

SFH Maintenance returned to a site previously worked on in January 2024 (without torrential rain and wind this time) to install a concrete footpath, steps and GRP handrail. The path was marked out and then dug by hand, kerbs were placed along the edging, followed by a weed resistant geo-textile, hardcore and rebar. Due to the change in weather and temperature, expansion joints were added along the concrete path to allow movement and to avoid cracking. We then returned four weeks later to install a double-sided GRP handrail to the steps, once the concreted had hardened.

GRP LAdder and platforms

In the summer of 2024, SFH Maintenance worked to replace an old and corroded ladder and platform within a confined space. With the area surrounding the existing platform being open to a fall risk, the 7m fall was secured with a GRP grated flooring covering the entirety of the clear opening. The increased floor coverage also ensures safety whilst descending or ascending the new ladder, with the option to install a tripod and winch at the top to ensure safe use. A lift up panel gives access to the ladder opening. The ladder was finished with a pull up safety stay handle.

sprung loaded Access cover Installations

On a bitterly cold morning in mid-January 2024, the SFH Maintenance team donned their warm weather PPE and worked alongside SGN to remove and install three new sprung loaded access covers within their gated site. The existing lids and frames were removed first, enabling a Spider Crane to lift the redundant covers away from the openings to be disposed of. The new covers were then offloaded and lifted into place and secured into the existing concrete with bolts.
The works were completed in one day.

CONFINED SPACE step-overs

To ensure maximum safety in a confined space, SFH Maintenance created bespoke step-overs to eliminate trip hazards. The step-overs are created with GRP (glass reinforced plastic) a strong, lightweight, corrosion and temperature resistant material that is easy to mould and much more cost effective than metals. All our step-overs are installed with handrails to ensure maximum safety.

INFRASTRUCTURE brackets

To ensure national infrastructure is kept maintained, SFH Maintenance designed for manufacture and installed infrastructure brackets within a confined space setting. The final finish is hot dip galvanised to ensure an extended life expectancy.

ACCESS LADDERS

GRP access ladder systems are designed for use in various industrial and commercial settings. They comply with all relevant standards and provide a safe, virtually maintenance-free, and cost-effective alternative to metal access ladders. These ladders are crafted using a combination of high-strength fibreglass and resin, making them ideal for industrial environments where exposure to corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moisture is common.

Handrails

Installed in a confined space setting, this 20 metre handrail was designed and installed to prevent falls, trips or slips on the steep stairs. Crafted from GRP instead of a traditional metal handrail, GRP handrails require minimal maintenance. They don’t rust, rot, or corrode, reducing the need for frequent inspections and repairs. These handrails are lightweight yet robust, making installation easier and more cost-effective for our end client. They adhere to relevant safety standards and regulations, ensuring a secure grip for users as they ascend or descent the stairs. The colour was chosen for its high visibility in a dark setting.

Security DOORS

At SFH Maintenance, we understand that every project is unique, especially when incorporating security doors for both internal and external uses. We supply and install bespoke steel, security or fire rated doors including PAS 24 and LPS 1175 up to SR2 along with advanced locking systems and hardware, to ensure maximum security. Our custom doors are designed to stand the test of time, providing exceptional security, fire resistance and durability. The doors add an additional boundary to help stop unauthorised access to neighbouring boroughs in pipe subways. The edges are finished with a grated fire-resistant GRP surround to add an additional layer of defence, but also provide ventilation to the pipe subways.
